From my heart to yours…
Hi, I’m Hope Venetta, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and National Certified Counselor. After 14 years of working in mental health and organizing continuing education for psychotherapists, I felt called to transition into direct client work myself. I wanted to receive clinical training that aligned with my faith, which led me to earn my Master’s degree in Christian Counseling from the Clinical Mental Health Program at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
I firmly believe that every person has the ability to envision the change they want in their life and take the steps to make that vision a reality. My role as your therapist is to create and hold space for you as you uncover your truth, work through life’s challenges, and step into your strength.
Who I Serve
I work primarily with Christian women—especially those who are descended from Africans brought to the United States as slaves—who are ready to wrestle with and overcome the emotional and spiritual burdens that have been holding them back. Many of my clients are working through issues such as:
-
Overcoming generational cycles and dysfunctional family dynamics
-
Healing from religious trauma, church hurt, or a crisis of faith
-
Navigating racial identity as an African American woman
I help women break free from the decontextualized traumas of living in a fallen world—carrying the weight of systemic racism, intergenerational trauma, and the expectations placed upon them as the “Strong Black Woman” or her harmful stereotypes (Angry, Hypersexual, System Abuser, Financially Irresponsible, Unemployable). My work equips women with the tools they need to reclaim their God-given identity and live the abundant life that Christ promises.
If you don’t see yourself in that description, you are still welcome here. My approach is deeply rooted in my faith and ethnic experience, and my voice will unapologetically reflect that—but healing is for everyone.
My Approach to Therapy
I use a person-centered approach, integrating empirically validated methods such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Reality Therapy/Choice Theory, and Internal Family Systems when applicable. I also serve as a SYMBIS Facilitator (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts), helping engaged and married couples build strong foundations.
Whether in individual therapy, couples counseling, or the Sister Circle group healing experience, my goal is to walk alongside you as you process your experiences, gain clarity, and step into a life of purpose, healing, and faith.
Beyond the Therapy Room
When I’m not working with clients, writing, or speaking, you can find me:
-
Taking epic road trips with my husband
-
Tinkering in my garden
-
Enjoying a cold drink on my back patio with a friend, talking about life, love, and what God is doing in our lives
