Psychotherapy for Adults
Discover your truth. Uncover your strength
Are you ready to begin your quest to become a mentally and emotionally healthy adult that shows up as your highest and best self in every aspect of life?
Therapeutic Services
My objective is to create and hold space for you, as my client in individual therapy, couple’s counseling, or the Sister Circle group healing experience. Working with me will equip you to discover your truth, and uncover the strength you need to live it out.
While I do see individuals 18 and older with a wide range of presenting issues, I am particularly interested in helping clients in 3 main areas:
♦Overcoming generational curses or dysfunctional family upbringing
♦Religious trauma, Church Hurt, or crisis in faith.
♦Racial identity issues with African Americans.
“I fundamentally believe that each human being possesses within them, the tools needed for personal growth.”

Individual Psychotherapy
In individual therapy you’re provided a safe nonjudgmental space to be who you truly are and make the changes needed to establish the life you want. My approach is to work collaboratively with clients. You, as the client identify your needs and wants, and I come alongside you to help explore and implement the necessary skills and knowledge to achieve your goals.
Couples Therapy
Couples Therapy is a safe space for a couple to come together and gain clarity on concerns that are hindering the relationship from moving forward. In the therapy process, the couple will work with me to establish the appropriate solutions developed uniquely for that couple. In couples therapy it’s important that each partner is present and want to take the necessary steps needed to improve their relationship.
Sister Circles
Simply living life as an African American woman in US culture can negatively affect us in ways that we don’t expect. So, what do we do when we have to keep showing up to do life despite having struggles? If you need to process this with others going through the same thing, our Sister Circle might be for you. We’ll talk, listen, cry, pray, breathe deeply, and encourage each other as we develop resilience.
Therapy Can Help With …
Overcoming Generational Curses
Destructive relationship patterns can get passed down from one generation to the next. Dysfunctional personal behavior can become a model or example to the next generation, and the cycle is repeated over and over again. These issues can affect our jobs, our romantic relationships, how we raise our children, how we relate to God, how we treat our bodies, and more.
Therapy can help you to declare: It ran in your family, until it ran into you!
Recovering from Church Hurt
Have you ever had a crisis of faith? Ever been hurt by church members and it turned you off to God completely? Have you ever been afraid that you need to keep your questions or doubts a secret?
If this is you: you need a space where you are allowed to safely explore all of your wonderings, questions, concerns, and doubts. You need to feel seen in your process.
And most importantly, you need someone willing to walk alongside you – wherever your journey might take you.
Bring your questions, doubts, and fears to deconstruct/reconstruct your Christian faith in a non-judgemental atmosphere.
African American Racial Identity Issues
Today’s cultural climate is taxing. In your therapy sessions with me you can process any racialized trauma you may have experienced, think out loud in a safe place, and genuinely feel seen.
Race informs every area of our lives–relationships, social, familial, financial, educational, medical, gender, class, safety, and more. I believe deep and profound healing can happen through the exploration of racial identity. I use a decolonizing framework to assist you in defining the impact of race in your life and work to develop and recognize your strengths and inner resources to navigate race-related stress and trauma.

After 14 years of experience working in mental health and organizing continuing education activities for psychotherapists, I was inspired to transition to a new career as a psychotherapist myself. It was important to me to receive my clinical training with a Christian worldview. I hold a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling from the Clinical Mental Health Program at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. I am currently licensed as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, and hold the National Certified Counselor designation.
In my therapy work, I believe everyone has the ability to create a vision of the change they want in their lives, and take steps to make that vision a reality. My role as your therapist is to hold space for you as you discover your truth and uncover your strength.
At times, mental health symptoms such as anxiety, depression, etc. keep us from the life we want for ourselves. As your therapist, I will walk with you as you explore what might be interfering with you being able to have the life you envision for yourself. I use a person-centered approach in my work and incorporate empirically-validated treatments such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Reality Therapy/Choice Theory, and Internal Family Systems when applicable.
I am certified as a SYMBIS Facilitator (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) and am certified in Psychological First Aid from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. I am also a member of the American Counseling Association and serve on various committees with the Licensed Clinical Counselors Association of North Carolina.
I am currently practicing at Lepage Associates Psychiatric and Psychological Services in Durham, NC. You may contact the office to ask for me by name at (919) 572-0000.
Healing Can Start Today
My Approach & Philosophy
At the center of my approach to therapy, is a person-centered theoretical orientation grounded in 2 Peter 1:3 (ESV)- “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,” I fundamentally believe that each human being possesses within themselves the tools needed for personal growth.
For the majority of the world’s population, the cultural norms that inform evidence-based theoretical modalities developed with a Eurocentric worldview don’t always fit. Persons of color, and by extension, all my clients no matter their background are better served by my approach as it takes into account their unique cultural, systemic, and environmental factors.
